Why are xbox 360 games on series x not conectimg to xbox live.

My friend and i were trying to play gears through game pass and he could not play because he changed his gamertag. And now its not letting him play xbox360 games online. it will not allow him into xbox life for 360 games. He thinks its because of his gamertage being changed.

Hi there! Sorry to hear about what happened. Let's do our best here to sort this out.

To confirm, his Xbox One/Series X|S games work just fine except 360 games, correct?
What exactly is the error message/code you get there?

Please ask him to clear his 360 storage. Go to Profile & system > Settings > System > Storage. On the Manage storage devices > Clear local Xbox 360 storage.

Then try re-downloading his account on the Xbox 360 dashboard. While in the Backward Compatible game, press the menu and select button simultaneously to bring up the Xbox 360 guide. On the guide, scroll down and select 'Download Profile' then sign in with your account credentials.

Be sure to restart his console. Press & hold the Xbox power button > select Restart console.

You just need to change your router to a ipv4 address only.

The 360 does not support ipv6 like the Xbox one consoles.

I have the same problem, I can't connect to Xbox Live on the Xbox 360 games (on my xbox serie x) since few days 🤔 I precise I don't have any problem on the Xbox serie X games, I have that only on the Xbox 360 games.

My internet is perfect too (I live in Belgium)

You’re welcome and you’re correct. But Xbox Game Pass is not available for Xbox 360, it’s only available on Xbox One as well as Xbox Series X|S and that’s why you’re getting the error.

If you have an Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S you will be able to use the subscription both on PC and Xbox.
