    I changed my Xbox gamer tag recently so it lined up with my other accounts, but now it has four random numbers after it. When I was changing it showed the four numbers greyed out ( #5289) so I assumed it was like the riot ID system, it wouldn't show up unless you were adding friends (To allow for more gamer tags to be used). I went on Minecraft Bedrock Edition today and when I typed in chat and above my head there were the numbers without the hashtag. So why have they been added to my gamer tag when I didn't want them on my gamer tag. I don't mind the ID because it shouldn't show up in game only when adding friends. Now am I required use more money to change my name again because it was not specified properly when I changed it.

    how do you know that nobody else has it, if the account is set to private you won't see, it can be used elsewhere on the microsoft services, it could even be a banned account therefore never available.

    The numbers will show in games that haven't been updated to work with the new gamertag system yet. The only way to not have them is to change your tag to a tag no one else has.

    Why did my gamer-tag change? It really didn't offend nobody ( BIgBOyLuvMiLPhz )it was a funny gamer-tag to make people laugh and this was my first time actually getting reported. My friends gamer-tag were funny but when they got reported they had to change
    there gamer-tag to something else or they couldn't play live at all and you gave them a (FREE GAMER-TAG CHANGE), how come I cant get that opportunity to change my gamer-tag?

    Gamertag Problem

    My understanding is that gamertags aren't limited to one person any more...if someone else already has the same gamer tag, the system simply adds numbers after it to denote the difference....so, for example, if "Example" was a gamer tag and 2 people used it, then one person might be "Example1064" and the other might be "Example1654" (no clue how the numbers work)

    Whilst you may have deleted the account with that gamer tag, someone may have used the same gamer tag since the system was changed
