Why are some ID@Xbox games not available in Canada?

First noticed this with NinjaBee's Nutjitsu. It's been out in the states for almost 2 months with no word on a Canadian release. Developer said on Twitter that they have to "localize" it - no, you don't. We speak the same English in Canada as you do in the
States. This shouldn't be an issue.

More recently, 1001 Spikes by Nicalis is also unavailable in Canada. No reason has been given by that developer.

Is this going to be an ongoing trend? It's really disappointing.

Some games are not available to DL in some locations. I guess thats the reason why you got that message.

I agree, here in the UK we also did not get the games mentioned, Nutjitsu would have been a definite purchase, but now, doubtful.

 

No offence, but not being available in the UK I can SORT OF understand, considering you guys have a different certification and rating system. No excuses for no Canadian release.

 

Unfortunately due to some ridiculous Canadian laws all releases have to have a "FRENCH" version due to the Quebec laws of a minority speaking French as a second language.. Stupid Law TBH and this is why things cost more in Canada as well!

 

really 1001 spikes on the ps4 seems fine , and zombie driver out today is also on my 360 it is in Canada so is 1001 spike so the French excuse is bull , but 2 of my friends traded there x1 systems for the ps4 because of no games and problems with the console
and I am on the verge of just giving it to my sister because of this . It is at the point were all multy platform games are being bought on my ps4 so the x1 then has around 5 games only . time to step up and show the fans outside of the U.S. that you care
because this is insane .

 

In Canada they need to localise it for the French speaking players.

In Europe they have to do it at least for French and highly recommended for German players.

It may get released on another platform like the 360 but it could be because it has less localisation (less audio and text in the 360 version)

 

They don't need to localise it for French. That's totally incorrect. As godslayer1975 pointed out it's on the PS4 in Canada with no French mode. In fact I would go so far as to say the majority of digital games released in Canada have no French mode - I
know that game boxes have to be billingual, but this isn't a boxed game.

 

There is no Canadian version because of the French localisation, just like there's no UK version because of the PEGI rating, so there is an excuse for neither of us not having it, even so, it feels like we're overlooked,

You're not reading. French localisation is not a requirement in Canada. PEGI rating is a requirement in UK.

I'm aware of what they said, but French localisation isn't a requirement in Canada so it's not an excuse for a delay. Certainly not of this magnitude.

 

I am reading your posts, I'm saying the developers say they have delayed it because of French localisation, whether it's a requirement or not, they are giving that reason, and why are you arguing with me, I'm trying to support you, as I agree, these things
are no excuse for such long delays.
