Why are random people adding me as their friend on xbox?

So among the followers that I have on my xbox account, 31 of them are basically random people who added me as their friend, I just dont get it though, why must they add me as their friend, is it because I have a high gamerscore, I mean I have 1240 gamerscore, so I guess that is somewhat high, but then there are other players in the xbox community that they can instead friend with, but they chose me instead. Moreover, I have not seen these players before in the Minecraft bedrock servers I play, nor I have met them in real life before, so I don't know how they manage to look for my gamertag on xbox. If you also noticed, 4 random players added me as their friend at the 1 week mark, so pretty much they added me as their friend at the same time. In fact I also once came across a reddit post whereby another person has the same question as me, and someone commented on the post that those random players could be using a tool to farm XUIDs and then a different tool to automatically to follow a large batch of gamertags at once,

So in order to reduce or prevent random players from finding me on xbox, I turned off new followers notifications in my xbox settings as well as turning off sharing achievements automatically. I also removed my bio, location as well as my real name under my xbox account. So is there other ways I can prevent random players from adding me on xbox

Sorry to hear about the amount of people starting to randomly follow you. I personally ran into this issue a couple years ago and couldn't ever figure out why so many people started to friend me. It could of been a friend of friend's situation or a streamer had you in their game or any number of things.

The short answer is that you cannot do anything to stop people from following you. The social nature of the Xbox network allows people to follow anyone on the system for a variety of reasons. However, there are things you can do to keep more control of your account and prevent these people from having levels of interaction with you.

I would recommend reading the following article from Xbox support about your online safety and privacy settings and start to change your own settings to things that make you more comfortable. Ideally anything in the communication section of the settings would be where I would start.

I would also recommend going through the above-mentioned setting and changing as much as you can to friends only. This will limit what followers would be able to do in general, including not being able to join your party's and listen to you. Just keep in mind that friends are specific users that you have followed back so there is a two-way connection for both of you and adds another level of interaction security.

I get this from time to time.

Some people are obsessed with having lots of followers.For some reason they think it makes them look good or cool so what they do is add people hoping the person will add them back & if they do they will then unfollow that person so it looks like they have loads of followers.If you don't follow them back then they'll unfollow you & try again later.

It's quite pitiful really & one of the reasons i wish they'd change the friends/followers system on xbox.
