    I have a pair of Xbox One Controllers and they have been joystick drifting so much while trying to play PC games (tried on multiple pc's/lappy's) (including Xbox pc games).

    It's practically unplayable now and very irritating because it works just fine without such issues on my Xbox One Console.

    I've tried the drill already from updating everything to trying on diff. games & Pc's.

    I would have gotten myself new Series X controllers but I'm now skeptical with these bad quality controllers and seen many complaints & people changing their whole Joystick.

    But I wanted to know if there is a way/hope by any chance to make it work without getting replacement parts?

    Because they already work fine on console (just finished NFS heat & lots of Forza too without any major controller issue)

    When you say generic joystick you mean generic xbox controller?

    Those should automatically work with a windows PC Ive used both a Xbox 360 wired and Xbox one connected with a Micro USB cable to my PC and have played both Xbox One and 360 games fine with both of them. So maybe go to your local game store and purchase
    a used 360 wired controller.

    Xbox wireless controller works with steam but not with Xbox cloud games anymore? (very confusing)

    Explain doing something I shouldn't? I go to the store and purchase a controller and Bluetooth adapter, hook it up (plug and play) and I should be able to play any Xbox cloud game on PC. I have downloaded them for PC, so why isn't my controller working in the games, but works fine on steam?

    Like I said, everything was working fine until I connected my said controller to my Xbox one to update it so I could play Rock Band 4 on my console. Then the next day controller is connected to my PC, but not responding to any Xbox game pass games (for PC) unless I have the USB cable plugged in. Makes no sense to me.

    unfortunately as ps4 and 5 controller don't use xinput they wont work these days, ps controllers work fine with most other games on pc except xbox provided content, ds4 sometimes works with windows store and xbox app games, in regards to using it over the xbox companion app, then your now out of luck and microsoft are a bit petty.

    the answer is it is a wireless controller they dont work with the usb charging cable ive tried it on windows 7 and 10 you need a proper wired controller apparently.
    That's true for 360 controllers, but not Xbox One. The Xbox One controllers work wired and via wireless on PC. My wiress controllers all work fine via the micro USB cable on my PC.

    Windows 7 doesn't come with drivers built in to the OS though, they may need need to be downloaded manually if Windows update isn't picking up the controller.

    Thanks Bon3zz1001, I have the Xbox controller and the adapter (USB on PC) all setup and working fine.

    The steam list seems to be the best bet. An interim way to search on a windows 8 PC is to actually search for Xbox 360 controller support in the store. That popped up a few names too.
