Why are most PC available games not Play Anywhere?

to put it simply, those games are available in other stores on pc and it is entirely up to the dev/publisher to allow them to be play anywhere, meaning they lose money by allowing on console and pc for one price.

Please note that only the Microsoft Store is the only marketplace that has this program, and Microsoft is not involved in the developer/publisher decision of making their title compatible with it.

Therefore, games like Minecraft, Dragon Ball FighterZ, and other titles that don't are Play Anywhere were released in that way. For those specific cases, it's required to re-purchase the game on Xbox or any other platform you want to play them.

the game is not play anywhere so you need to purchase separately for pc.

you will find most games are not play anywhere and also a lot of games are not even available on the Microsoft store for pc, so most other games would need to be purchased from GOG, Steam, Ubisoft, Battlenet etc etc.

most of the games on xbox are not play anywhere so would have to be purchased on pc anyway, gta v has never been available on pc via windows/xbox store, there are also a very limited number of xbox games available on the play anywhere service so most games would have to be purchased in other stores like COD, Fortnite and many many more.

So if you happen to see a game with a "Play Anywhere" banner on it then it most likely will be available for PC as well. You should be able to get the copy for free if you bought it on console or on pc etc. But for right now only a select few titles are
"Play Anywhere" titles.
