Why are Microsoft Plug and Play charging kits so faulty?

We understand the inconvenience caused. We will be glad to assist you with this. As per description, you are having issue with your Microsoft Plug and Play charging kits. It is not working well even if you just bought it a month ago and you just seldom charging/using it. Let's check on this together to help you resolve the problem.

This is really strange, you are using the original Kit cable or some certified cable, because according to Microsoft's own website it can be charged when connected to any USB port. "You can also charge your battery by connecting the controller and charge cable to any USB power source, and you can use other USB-certified cables. Charging times may vary.

Note Standard AA (LR6) batteries work in your wireless controller, as do rechargeable AA (LR6) batteries. However, regular rechargeable batteries don’t recharge in the controller. Recharge these batteries by the method recommended by the manufacturer."

If you bought them from Amazon and you’re replacing them from Amazon, they may be coming from the same pile of defective kits. For example, I bought an Xbox 360 controller battery about 10 years ago. The entire stock of them was defective. Eventually Amazon pull the listing after my third exchange. Rechargeable batteries that are not being used do have a shelf life

So please do try your controller with a regular pair of AA batteries to make sure that it’s the kit for the charging circuitry and not the controller itself.

Personally I changed to rechargeable, energizer AAs, and I’ve never looked back myself. I have a little box of charged batteries next to me, and it takes me under five seconds to be back at 100%. One pair of batteries has provided me with a decent amount of power for 3 to 5 years. You can get a charger and batteries by the brick on Amazon, I think they might actually still be on Christmas sale

I have started taking the battery pack out of the controller, but I don't understand if there's no power going to the console, then why is the battery pack still losing charge? That's why I thought it was faulty.

BTW it's not the plug and play charge kit I have but the quick charge kit.
