Why are games not automatically updating even when the checkbox is checked in settings?

Are you using the Sleep energy mode?

In this mode, the console will wake to install system and game updates.

Please, check it here:

Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

Select Profile & system > Settings > General > Power options.

Select the Shutdown (energy saving) option.

If you check Settings > System > Updates, you should see options (in checkboxes) to enable automatic updating.

From what I can tell by these options, only system updates are applied after the console is turned off, even when in energy-saving mode. Game/App updates can be automatically downloaded in the background, but only while the console is turned on.

Some people say that games and apps are automatically updated while the console is turned off in "Instant-On" mode, but I can't find any exact confirmation on this now.

I have that setting set to on (check-marked). It still will only update the game when I stick the disc in as it checks for updates for that game only when it reads the disc. Still does not explain why it won't look for updates when the setting is already set to update automatically.

**UPDATE** I just checked my settings again and this time in the power settings under the checkbox where it says turn on xbox with voice... there is another checkbox that says "Turn off storage when the xbox is off". Uncheck the storage box... not sure
yet if it will have any effect on the issue but it's worth trying.

Question? I leave my One in power saver mode most of the time. Do I get the update shown when I turn it on, or do I have to change it to "quick launch" and check the "automatically dl updates" checkbox, then turn it off and wait for the light to change first?

I've just read some conflicting info on a few different threads.
