Why am I sent 6 digit code for 4 digit sign in?

I am having the same exact problem. I'm trying to create a new account and Microsoft requires a 4-digit verification code, but is emailing and texting a six-digit verification code. My husband is trying to log-in to his account and having the same problem.

I'm having the same issue too - has anyone been able to fix it yet?

The digital code will be digitally sent to you within 4 weeks. If the code is not sent 4 weeks after renewing, post back so we can take a look!

Thanks, I just tried that and was told they cannot help on their end.

I was sent a link that says to enter any 6 digit code 3 times and the console will give me the option to change it.

Thing is, it's asking for a 4 digit code and it doesn't ask if I want to change anything, it just keeps saying try again.

Is says sign in and go to a link but it doesn't ask me for the 8 digit code

I have an 8 digit cod and there is only a 6 and 10 digit code box
