Why am I not able to watch age restricted content even though age restrictions are turned off

I had this problem, and for me, it was because the YT app for xbox cannot distinguish between a main YouTube account versus a "branded" account linked to the same Google account.

I was using a secondary nickname branded account for my Xbox app, and it would skip or age restrict everything regardless of the " restriction setting on/off ". Once I removed the branded tag and started using the original Google account tag, it was normal. Of course your Google personal data must have correct age. If you do not see a section to enter your age, odds are it's a branded or linked account to an original Google account.

You've tried going to your Microsoft account's privacy settings from your PC by going through the Xbox website, then clicking Xbox Profile's Privacy Settings.

This will take you to your account's Privacy and Online Security page, check the Xbox 360 Online Safety Tab if you have the options in Allow.

Thank you, but this restricts the YouTube app entirely if I lower the age limit. I just wanted to be able to set it so the restricted mode can't be turned off so it will block inappropriate content.

This has happened to me also. I was in the middle of watching a YouTube video and the console updated and restarted. Once I got back online my access to content was set to 'Appropriate up to age 14' even though these restrictions have never been set up and
I have no parent account. I can only access the age restricted games and apps after entering my password for my Microsoft account each time I open them. This is a massive inconvenience that needs to be resolved.

Anytime I try to watch videos that are "age restricted" (right now, the bethesda Wolfenstein New Order videos), the Xbox One Youtube app will not let me play the video or bypass the error by selecting "I am 18" like on the PC. My account setting on the xb1
are all set to adult, and my youtube account also has all the content filters turned off (even though it still displays the warning for flagged content on my PC). I've tried every setting I can.

Have I missed something, or is this just a bug?
