Why am I not able to play games that are downloaded on my Seagate external hard drive?

Hi!

I recently ran out of storage on my Xbox Series S, so I went out and bought the Seagate 2TB external hard drive and connected it to my Xbox. On the Seagate website, it says that you should be able to play games off of the hard drive but for whatever reason, it still refuses to allow it. I followed the directions exactly as they were stated on the website but hopefully I'm just doing something wrong? Sorry if this is a stupid question, but it's really frustrating me.

Hey Milo, unfortunately HDDs are incompatible with Series X/S games. You will have to shell out the several hundred dollars for their SSD card to expand your X/S storage. You can, however, play Xbox One and 360/Classic games with an HDD, hope this helps.

If the games are Series S/X optimized, they can only be run from the internal hard drive or the Seagate expansion card. No other external drive can run those.

With my Seagate 4TB, Can I moved the games to from my Uncle's Internal Hard Drive to my Seagate 4TB External Hard Drive & still play them without purchasing?

So I double checked the format and it is NTFS. And yes it is a seagate 2tb external xbox one hard drive, 3.0usb. So I am not sure why it will not let me use it for games. When the hard drive is a game drive.
