Who said MS don't know what to do with hololens and not be used for gaming? ;)

Well nothing has been developed for it as of yet. Majority of things shown are construction based.

2016 there maybe more news who knows. But Virtual Reality would of been a better way to go. After all with so many VR projects in the pipeline = more software.

MS is trying to be too clever.

 

I love seeing people "assume" they know how helolens will work when they havent even seen or tried it yet. so the coffee table went im guessing u cant walk with the helolens then lol

 

@Ghost - have you actually seen the demos or read the reviews from first hand users? If so I don't understand how you can come up with such a comment.

@Randver - I know what you're saying. I totally don't expect it to be the portable do it machine immediately. But processing power gets more compact - just look at mobile phones. So over time the PC needed to power HoloLens will get smaller (and probably
wirelessly connected).

Anyway - we'll agree to disagree. I see the massive potential (which I think is inevitably going to get realised - eventually); fair enough if you don't see what I see.

I agree, In the future the performance of my current gaming desktop will be able to be fit into a pair of glasses.

The problem is MS announcing that the Hololens will be releasing in the Windows 10 "timeframe" (whatever that means) and will have gaming applications. You have people expecting to be playing BF5 with these things. Rather than MS being more specific on what
we'll see in the next 12 months they only give us enough info to peak people's imaginations which will only lead to disappointment.

That wasn't in reference to anyone here, I think most people here are a little more realistic.

If you head over to some of the other gaming forums or look at the comments under some of the articles regarding the announcement you'll see lots of people with huge expectations. The day of the demo some of the comments were amazing, people thought they
would be on a Star Trek Holodeck 12 months from now.

 

Yeah, I wouldn't be expecting anything like that in the near future. Construction games (Minecraft) or similar is more realistic at first. Still, we really don't know what the devs will come up with until it happens, it is exciting to see what the new technology
can do though.

Wait... so you're saying that next year... I won't be able to just say "Xbox, recreate the Ivory Tower map from Halo 2 and start the free for all slayer game type" and have that

@Goth - that is truly tragic. To die at 30 just as an awful bit of tech you've dedicated your career to is about to take off is just utterly depressing.

@Randver - I agree. Most of the great future uses of HoloLens will not happen within the next five years. Windows 10 lifetime will just see the initial specialised usage of HoloLens - very unlikely for games (other than MineCraft/board games). It's the
next few decades where I really see it taking off.
