    Whirring noise/disc won't read


    My Xbox won't read this disc. It's a perfectly new disc that's clean and no scratches, but when I put it in the Xbox, I get a whirring noise for about a second. Not the loud awful grinding noise I've seen loads but a small whirring noise. What's this about?

    recently when im playing disc games this weird whirring noise starts coming from the disc drive, is this a serious issue?

    What do you mean by "ventilation noise"? Can you describe it with a little more detail?

    The only thing you should hear is the system fan whirring, the hard drive making spinny/clicky noises, and the disc drive spinning the disc.

    I'm sorry to hear about the disc issue, does this issue occur with one disc or all discs? I would like to suggest a few troubleshooting steps so that we can get this issue sorted.

    Please give the following steps a try:



    • First try a different disc to see if the same issue occurs.
    • Make sure that your console is on a stable surface, placed horizontally.
    • Turn off your console by holding the power button on the front of the console for 10 seconds.
    • Once your console is off, unplug the power cord.
    • Leave your console unplugged for 5 minutes and plug in your console.
    • Power on you console.

    Disc issuses

    I just tried to use a couple discs on my xbox one COD bundle and nothing is reading . It makes a slight whirring noise but its not scratching the discs or anything. Crazy to have problems on day 3 of owning the system.

    Xbox one doesnt know that it has a game disc inside it.

    Update. OK for some reason it didnt see the disc because I'm guessing the machine didnt pull it in all the way. After repeated attempts the game finally ejected. Put it back in and it loaded up. Now the problem is it makes a loud whirring, whizzing noise
    with the disc in the drive. So I eject it and put another disc to see if its a problem with the machine or the game disc and it made the same loud whirring noise. It had worked almost flawlessly up to this point. Do I need to send it for repair or replacement?
    And how do I start the process?

    the disc drive in the replacement xbox one console i received from microsoft makes a whirring noise when inserting a disc... only while it is accepting the disc. sounds like it might be the motor that pulls the disc inside the drive. anyone having any issues
