Which rechargeable option has the best quality/bang for my buck for XBOX Series X/S

I finally went and next gen'd myself. Here's the catch: I don't think I have the right controller.....

I called every Gamestop (had to be GS unfortunately because I was planning on putting it on my Gamestop credit card/use some old store credit I had lying around) within at least a 25 mile radius of my home. No dice. FINALLY, the last store told me "Oo, looks like the ______ location (yeah, you don't need to know the town for this post to make sense) just got a trade-in today!" I had been calling around and trying so hard for so long, but I basically said okay thank you so much I'm calling them now. I call the location with the trade-in, and the guy on the phone, without missing a beat, says "Nah, sorry, but I can check which stores do if you want." So now I'm getting a little discouraged. I say, "I just got off the phone with _____ and they told me that your location has a trade-in that arrived TODAY. Could you look around? Maybe someone didn't put it in the case yet and it's still under the counter? Anything?" and he obliges. Gives me the "one sec" and walks off... only to pick up the phone like 20 seconds later and says "Oh my god, you must be PSYCHIC, it is literally being traded in right this second. They're not even done." SICK. GREAT. Only being traded in because the guy didn't realize there wasn't a disc driver and apparently, luckily for me, didn't like that. So almost brand new.... but I'm preeeeetty sure he traded it in with an Xbox One controller. No problem, doesn't matter. But the batteries die ENTIRELY too often (I am a bit biased because I've been a Playstation girl since at least around The Orange Box time, but damn do I miss TF2).

ANYWAY my real question: what is the absolute best rechargable option? Batteries you have to charge the 'manufacturer way' every time, a charge pack, a knockoff controller, or ... just deal with it? Batteries are expensive, man.
