    Which Marketplace to use?


    I am having an annoying issue with my Xbox gaming. I live in Germany but English is my native tongue. I transferred my Xbox over to the German marketplace because I cannot pay for things on the English marketplace with my German PayPal account. A couple
    problems arose now though. Firstly, everything on my console is now in German. That is relatively minor and has actually been a bit useful as I have now learned the German for all the previous tab headings on my Xbox.

    The big problem is that I tend to buy a lot of games directly through my Xbox while online. I always have to cross my fingers though as to which language the game will be downloaded in. Last month I downloaded the free with Gold game which was Dishonoured.
    For some reason after hours of downloading I finally had the game........in French. Completely useless to me.

    Does anyone know if there is a way for me to set a preference of language for downloading games from the Xbox Live marketplace?

    May also want to go into system items and delete the Marketplace System Data and Rights Database. That involves the marketplace cache - which could be contributing.

    The most games are multilingual so the language they use is the one set up in your settings. So usually if you buy the game on the german marketplace and then switch your locale settings to english they should use english. There are a few exceptions like
    Wolfenstein which have special language versions for some languages.

    But honestly, I have no idea, why you've got Dishonored in French. Which Marketplace to use? :(

    So for now there is no option to set up a preferred language for your digital purchases.

    But as having language and locale separated is a quite often asked feature for future improvements, you may want to vote on this feature at

    xbox.uservoice.com/.../6028840-don-t-region-lock-the-languages     where Microsoft collects ist feedback and suggestions.

    Unfortunately credit codes can only be redeemed on the marketplace they are intended for. And also only on the marketplace they were redeemed on.

    So you do face two problems which are both not solvable. An US code is only redeemable on the US market, and if its redeemed there, there is no way to use it on the Canadian marketplace. Sri.

    If you're region is not the same as the marketplace for the marketplace for which this item is from (United States) you won't be able to purchase this item. In order to buy it you need to have US currency.

    Unfortunately there's no way around it my friend. Marketplaces are based off of your current region which is detected by your IP Address. Unless you have a US account in a US geographical area, you won't be able to access the US Marketplace.
