    Where's my Game? AoE III, purchased in 2010 on Games for Windows Live


    Hi!

    On November 21, 2010, I purchased Age of Empires III via Microsoft Games for Windows Live. Now I downloaded the Games for Windows client on my new computer, but I only get an error message saying "There was an error retrieving your purchase history.
    Please sign out and try again later    ". After some research it seems that lots of people face the same issue, but I could not find a solution. Does anybody know how I can get hold of my legally purchased game?

    Retrieve product key for prior purchase

    I purchased age of empires III from this link in 2010:

    I Only discovered this by accident as I had completely forgotten about this purchase. However, after wanting to download the AoE online free version, I was instructed to download the games for windows marketplace client.

    I logged in using my windows/xbox account and discovered the previous purchase and the ability to redownload the game.

    Unfortunately, I can not find the product key (my hotmail emails date back to Jan 2011, but this purchase was Nov 2010) thus have no way of finding the required product key to install my purchase.

    Having spoken to in chat to online support, directed to a phone number, transferred to the U.S., told to recall the uk phone support, redirected elsewhere who then told me to ring xbox support which doesn't support the issue I am having, I am here hoping
    someone can shed some light as to how I go about retrieving a product key for a purchase.

    Age of Empires III from GfWL

    I purchased Age of Empires III several years ago on the Games for Windows Live marketplace. The downloads from the GfWL client have been broken for years. Did Microsoft ever provide a new way to download the games purchased on GfWL, or alternately, provide
    Steam keys for those games?

    GFWL is now obsolete, and as far as I know, it's gone and you won't be able to play it.

    Hi Daniel, thank you for responding to my post. My current operating system is windows 10. I am unable to run windows 11 as I don't currently meet the system requirements. I completed the steps in the video (repair, reset, and troubleshoot), but unfortunately the troubleshooter didn't find any problems and I am still having issues downloading AOE III with the same error code. About deleting my games managed by Xbox, I am unable to delete the XboxGames folder or the game inside it (AOE III, half downloaded) as I don't have permission from the system. Also, the folder is on a D: drive, not an E: drive, if that helps.

    only if i new.....

    cant be signed in to a windows pc game and xbox live console with same account.

    so i cant play a movie or music or a game. xbox is useless when playing aoe online. unless i make another account and buy more live time. and it seems so far i cant unlink the aoe online account.

    i gess u would need to play window games pc to under stand.

    For games for Windows Live, it should be the same email and password you used to log into this site to post here. If it is for AoE Online that I see in your recent games, it should accept that login information and sign your XBox gamertag in. Are you having
    issues with other Windows Live games, or only this one, or is this the only Windows Live game you have?
