I have an xbox. I have children. I have access restrictions set up for the children. Right now, however, they can put in a disc and play the game without signing in, or select the "play offline" option. This means they can use the xbox, and NONE OF THE PARENTAL CONTROLS DO ANYTHING. They don't track time. They don't limit when the kids can play. The kids can do whatever they want, and there is no evidence that they did so, because nothing was recorded.

It's like buying a Windows computer, putting in the accounts you want accessing the function of the computer, and then having a button that says "I don't have an account" that allows anyone to use the computer anyway, without any of the use restrictions you set up for the various accounts you created.

The "Signed-out content restrictions" option made it so that you couldn't use the xbox at all without logging into your account first.

Where did the option go? Did someone at Microsoft somehow think this wasn't necessary or something? Is it hidden somewhere else, or do you need to download something to get it back?

If it was removed, who on God's green earth thought that was a good idea, and when is it going to be reinstated, becasue right now, the parental limitations are completely useless.

    :)

No your answer doesn't help at all.

There is no way from restricing kids from playing Xbox all day with out that option.

Why are you even doing the updates when every time you only make things worse.

Where did the "Signed-out content restrictions" option go?

    Hi,

Not sure your answer is appropriate.

My 5 year old son happily said to me this morning: » I just have to press B and I can continue. »

The problem is simple to fix…tell us how to remove the “skip sign in” button OR disable the games/apps that can be played unsigned.

If you need to see examples of basic functions of a parental control, I suggest you buy a console from any of your competitors.

That makes zero sense. The flexibility was always there when the "Signed out restrictions" option was there, since you didn't have to enact those restrictions if you didn't want to.

Your solutions also don't make sense. The purpose of parental control is to set up the machine so that the kids can play when I want them to, and cannot play when I don't, and only for as long as I say. However, if the kids can just "not log into their accounts", and play anyway, THE PARENTAL CONTROLS ARE USELESS. It doesn't matter what I put in the controls, as they can just pop in a disc, and play anyway. WHAT GOOD IS THAT?

Sure, I could lock the whole xbox, and require they come get me in order to play, but if that's the case, I DON"T NEED PARENTAL CONTROLS AT ALL. You might as well as suggest that I disconnect the xbox and lock it up in a box except for when I want them to play.

Think about telling a business that needs computers for work that they can set up accounts to limit access, but you have left in a backdoor that allows anyone to log in with no password because "some people want more flexibility" with accessing computers they shouldn't have access to at all.

There is no one, except diobedient addicted children, and perhaps companies who want to take advantage of them, that want to allow unfettered access to a game console or computer through a back door they've left open that eliminates all parental control.

This feature need to be reinstated, BADLY, and AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Otherwise, the parental control system is pontless.

Where did the "Signed-out content restrictions" option go?

Yanyannnn your explanation doesn't add up.

Removing a crucial parental control feature for user convenience is baffling. The suggested alternatives fall short; my kids can easily bypass restrictions by pressing 'B' or selecting "Skip sign in" at the login screen. This impacts many users. Microsoft should reconsider and bring back the "signed-out content restrictions" in the next update until they can find an appropriate solution that addresses both parental concerns and user convenience.
