Not sure this is the best forum for the question, but if you visit
fortnite.com/android there'll be a link to download the APK, install that and it'll lauch a separate Fortnite installer. Its the only way to go since the removal from the Play Store.

Standard disclaimer to be careful where you download APKs from and to make sure you trust the source since they aren't subjected to any of Google's quality control (as questionable as that quality control is anyway).

Also to keep in mind, anyone using your Home console will have access to online play and any games that you have downloaded but only the account with the Gold subscription can download the Gamepass or Games with Gold games. So there could be times where
you would have to sign in just to download games so that your son can use them later. Once a Gamepass game is downloaded, then it can be played by anyone on that console for as long as that game is still available in Gamepass.
