When you say no to a download and several hours later when you turn your console of it starts!

Last night i installed a game and when i was finished it wanted to do a big update.

I said no took out the disc and started to play a different game. when i ended the night i

pressed the x on my controller and turn off console. When i woke up i wanted to play again and started

the same game i ended the night playing and i couldnt sign in to the network.

i checked my connection and i was connected so i checked my detailed network statistics

and i had almost no upload and download speed... then checked my usage this month and

after the console was turned off the download automaticly started. as you can see in this picture i was not

awake at this moment and i did not agree to start the download. I talked to support and they told me

to write here to get a reply... i dont see the point off that since no one here can help me get my money

back for the usage on my xbox. I live in the middle of nowhere with only a few possibilitys when it comes

to connectivity and my best choise for the best connection is a mobile broadband. i pay around 50$ a month

just to play xbox and while i was sleeping xbox used up all of my package. I have previously innstalled games

that required big downloads and said no to download them beacause i dont have enough data to download them so i

have to do the download on another network but with limited download speed but unlimited downloads.

After talking to support all he kept saying was it is not possible to install a game when the console is off

and i kept reminding him that i installed the game but didnt want to download the update at this time.

He said that the xbox wouldnt download content without my consent.

Why is xbox downloading content without my consent and why is it doing it when the xbox i turned off?

i would like for xbox to admit that they have made a mistake here and help me with my broadband bill.

I dont want any money sent to me but i sure as hell would apreciate if they raise theyre hands and say sorry

and contact my internet provider and solve the problem either with getting to an agrement for so that i get my connection

back or that xbox pay for an xtra package so that i can use my xbox again.

Yes. You can purchase a game via the website and it will queue up the download to start when you turn on your console later.

I think you can start to download it to your console through this website if you leave your xbox turned on. Otherwise, it says download will start when you turn xbox on.

 

That is not entirely true. If you have set the xbox one to keep your console and games up to date automatically in the power settings in Settings > Power > Keep my games and apps up to date, they will update and continue downloads and system updates while
the console is in instant on mode (when the console is off it is in instant on/standby mode). You will need to disable this option and stop all downloads before they start if you are on a metered connection. You can also turn it all the way off by unplugging
it or setting it to go to "power savings mode" which is true off.

It is taken for granted that people don't have caps on their data when using xbox one but sometimes this is not so. I would suggest turning auto updates off in Settings > Power > Uncheck "keep my games and apps up to date" to prevent this from happening
again.

 

Data caps are a disgrace. They're the biggest scam.

Sorry I know it's not helping but when I see people that have data caps it gets me so angry.

I’ve noticed consistently that when I start my console first thing in the morning from instant on (also keep my games and apps up to date) that Ill always have several in the “update” section. So I’ve been hit with the bug that games aren’t updating when
set to (the exact opposite of your issue). Every time I will then see these same games and apps the next day in the queue section as being finished updating so they DO update overnight a day later by themselves.
