When you let people play online without the live subscription

i am agreeing with you, i was just trying to put across that the only free online platform now is PC. the stinger here is i play on xbox live from pc and don't pay.

dont want to pay then get or build a cheap gaming pc then online is free, i agree that multiplayer should be free especially when the xbox live gold money does not actually pay for any third party games servers as that is covered by the devs/publisher.

OK so let me explain the difference between the two subscriptions

1. Xbox live gold- Required if you want to play multiplayer games with people online and chat in party chat and message people. Fortnite is an online only game so would be gold subscription would be required to play that game. Forza I believe has a campaign
mode to it and does not require a gold subscription.

2. Game pass- think of it like a Netflix subscription for xbox games with over 200 games currently on the list that changes sometimes games are added and sometimes games are taken away. just like Netflix

You can have a Game pass subscription without having a gold subscription you just would not be able to play a multiplayer aspect of any of the games without the gold subscription.

You don't need any sort of subscription to play Minecraft if you have the disc, is it an Xbox Live Gold subscription they're trying to sell you?

You need Gold to play with other people online, but you should be able to play single player without any additional payment.
