When will we be able to move gamertag content to another Microsoft account?

It's not unusual to have XBOX gamertag content associated with 1 msft account and a Windows 10/outlook account with another.

When will one be able to move a gamertag to another MSFT account?

Why spend any time on XBOX platforms if all the content is going to be deleted/useless once users want to do simple account management?

Can I transfer 1 xbl family member and their game data to a new 2nd xbox and still use the already purchased dlc on both machines.

When you download content the license is tied to the gamertag that purchased the content as well as the console it was purchased on. If you move the family member to a different console, they will be able to use the content as long as they are the gamertag
that purchased the content and that gamertag is signed into Live (no other accounts on the console would be able to use the content). If it's not the gamertag that purchased the content, then they would have to purchase the content again in order for it to
work.

Licenses: You originally get two licenses when you buy content, one for your gamertag and one for your console. When you move a drive from one console to another, the License Transfer process lets you move the license from one console to another when you
redownload the content.

Thanks for reaching out to us with this issue. At this time there is no way to either merge accounts or to transfer content to a different account. The easiest thing to do if you'd like to use a different email for sign in is to change the email alias used
for signing in by updating it. Please be sure that the email that you're wishing to use has not been signed into xbox.com or a console, otherwise it will be considered an existing Xbox account. I recommend following the steps in our support article

I doubt this will work, due to the possibilities of people then being able to sell their accounts easier, and transferring games.

However you can change the email alias, as mentioned by Amber.

Regrettably, there are no plans to change the way the system works, from what I've experienced in the past year.

I had legally changed my surname, created a new email to reflect it and Xbox Support advised that there was no way to transfer my licenses across to my new account, although I cited legitimate personal reasons for the request. :/

My best advice would be to keep an eye on the grapevine in future - if there is any news on the subject, it will be communicated via official channels.

Thanks for the replies. I want to authenticate with Microsoft *once*, have one identity, and have all my Game information, Windows
information, Skype information and email information and profile junk in the same place. This may be considered a feature request, as there is no technical reason that this should be lacking. It just requires investment into how Microsoft
accounts are managed. It's a real pain to buy digital content on Microsoft platforms and then find out that it cannot be reasonably reconciled (Example: Office/Skype subscription on one MS account and ah Gamertag + xbox live content on another)

 

You can change the emae-m of your account If you add a new alias to your account

 

I'm not sure if this is something Microsoft will ever address. I understand your frustration, for me I would have to figure out what account I want to stay with and make that my primary. I would just use that profile from this point forward so I can
take advantage of play anywhere titles have have a gamertag for both platforms and achievements.

 

Why would the account be deleted?
