    When will a new Xbox update be out to fix problems it caused with my TV?


    The latest Xbox update on Oct 17, 2023 doesn't recognize all the settings my TV is capable of now. I have a Samsung S95B OLED. Before the latest update it was running at 120Hz with VRR and Dolbly Atmos. Now I don't have any of that anymore. Its really frustrating getting blindsided by an update that completely degrades the quality of gameplay. I am not sure if there is anyone else out there that t;his has happened to but I sure hope it gets taken care of quickly.

    We hope you are doing well.

    We would like to ask if you are still experiencing the issue on your TV. We have suggestions here. that may help you with your concern.

    Power cycle - Turn off your console by pressing the Xbox button on the front of the console for about 10 seconds, until it shuts down completely. Unplug the console's power cable. Wait 10 seconds. Plug the console power cable back in. Press the Xbox button on your console to turn it on.

    Reset of display settings -

    1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
    2. Select Profile & system > Settings.
    3. Under General, select TV & display options.
    4. Choose the display and picture settings appropriate for your TV.

    Enable Game Mode Settings on your TV.

    Lastly, you may try to use another TV.

    I checked to see if my TV had an update but it didn'thave one. It's just frustrating when everything is working fine and then an update to my Xbox happens and says my TV doesn't support any of the features it has and it also says my TV doesn't support HDR in gaming.

    We're sorry to hear for the inconvenience caused by the latest Xbox update. To answer your question, update usually happens every month however, you may send the report to Team Xbox as they may release a new update related for display issue.

    For the meantime, you may want to check these steps:

    • Please check if there's an update for your TV's software. Link: How do I update the software on my Samsung Smart TV?
    • Next, we recommend you go to Profile & system > Settings > General > TV & display options. Under the Advanced column, choose Video fidelity & overscan. In the Display column, ensure that Auto-detect (Recommended) is selected. 4K isn't available when HDMI or DVI is manually selected.
