Well lots of the games are old. Does suck when they shut them down then stuck playing offline only. I was ticked off when they shut down Battlefield 2 Modern Combat for 360. Was excellent game.

I'll keep buying mostly physical just because I want to be able to easily share games and trade them in and I want to be able to play the game even after the service has been shut down. I already have a lot of games on Steam, all of which one day will be
lost when Steam gets shut down (hopefully this won't happen in a very long time on Steam, but I'm not so confident with Microsoft since they are now shutting down GFWL, they have shut down the servers for original Xbox and when was it they will stop supporting

Yes I did this the other day and it still shuts down after I quit the game, I have checked all my settings and nothing is set for the series x to shut down when I quit a game.

You can do all of the above. The Xbox 360 safely shuts everything down when you turn the console off either via the power button or with the controller.
