    The new Xbox series generation is here, although the Blue ray app is years old and broken. I wanted to use my new Xbox series X to watch a 4K UHD Blue Ray movie for the first time to test the power of my new OLED but the series X can’t run a Blue Ray Natively.

    You need a Blue Ray app from the Microsoft store in order to play blue rays, the problem is that the app is slow, clunky and just outdated. It has 1/5 star rating and doesn’t even mention anything about the new Xbox generation in the description. When watching a movie the screen flashes black until the screen goes completely black and the audio still runs. There are other bugs but the main thing is I can’t go more than 5 minutes without the app crashing or the picture going completely black.

    Turns out this is a problem for many people and I just can’t understand why the app hasn’t had any love in a long time. Please Microsoft can you please update the Blue Ray app so we can actually use the blue ray player that comes with the Xbox. Thank you

    I bought a Xbox one s for myself in December of 2016, it has problems playing blue ray movies.

    Apparently this hasn't been resolved in the 5 months of this threads creation.

    I want to know when Microsoft is going to fix it.

    Also are all your Blue Rays legitimate copies for the correct region?

    Games are region free but Blue Ray films are region locked.

    Same issue, Tried every HDMI port on the TV with different HDMI cables, reinstalled the blue ray app, power cycled a dozen times, tried multiple dvd and blue ray. Worked through everything again with microsoft support and was told my TV is incompatible and
    i need to buy a new one.

    TV is 5 years old not ancient. Not impressed

    Good download, zero upload.

    I don't have "Persistent storage" under the disk & blue ray. It is just a disk, and blue ray buttons. But I did clear the mac address and reset when prompted. It didn't fix it.
