    I was told incorrectly by the salesman that my webcam would work on the xbox one. Sure the webcam works but the xbox does not recognise the inbuilt microphone. And if I want to use a usb microphone, it is not as simple as buying a plug and play one and
    just plug it into the console, you have to buy adapters, splitters and heaven knows what else to get the thing going and then it is no guarantee that it will work. Now that I have set up the console they refuse to take it back and for a refund. Why can't
    you use a headset with inbuilt microphone you ask? My Mother can't wear headphones and we wanted to use the xbox for Skype so we could have a conversation with my sister that lives in another state. Anybody want to buy a useless piece of equipment?

    Why bother buying an Xbox for skype when you can use your phone, tablet and computer... Xbox main function is gaming and as a secondary option it can do many things but all of them use the headset wired or wireless for things like skype or party
    chat.
    We didn't just buy it for Skype, when we look after the Grandkids they can play on it. I just didn't want to keep setting my laptop up every time we wanted to use Skype. It is stupid that the xbox can use a webcam, just not the microphone that is built into
    the webcam. What sort of company doesn't do research into that? Oh I know, Microsoft.

    You bought an Xbox One, a webcam all for using Skype?

    It sounds more like its the salesman that's at fault as he told you it would work and it doesn't (well it sort of does and sort of doesn't)

    Wouldn't it have been easier and possibly cheaper to use something like this?

    Its called Portal and doesn't pretty much everything you've said but instead of using Skype it uses Facebook Messenger.

    You would think that would make sense, but that's not always the case.
