Sorry to hear you are having this issues. Just to confirm the D: drive is formatted as NTFS as I know this has been the cause of other people having this issue?

I am trying to install games and apps onto my D drive instead of C drive through the Xbox app and Windows store on Game pass.

I have set the default drive to install apps to through Windows settings

I get a notification when going to install the game, asking which drive to install to, and instruct it to install to the D drive

Every time though, it ignores this and installs to me C drive.

If I try to move the app through settings, the "Moving" notification and progress bar appears for a split second before disappearing, with no error information, but not having moved the file.

There are some apps that are installed on my D drive, and the pattern seems to be apps that require Admin approval are the ones not install onto my D drive.

Could someone try and resolve the issue, as it's incredibly frustrating for a service that is no longer in beta.

My hard-drive is in the console and i can access all the games files and apps etc. But as you said it says their is no hard-drive in the console. I dont think it says Unformatted anywhere when i go into Settings>System>Storage i cant find where is says Formatted/Unformatted
it so im guessing it isnt unformatted.

I have all my game apps going to 2 different external drives. on my HP PC its really easy, the xbox original app is the only one that I have not been able to move this way. this is on the windows 10 build which I do really like. I just go to settings and
then into apps, notifications, storage settings and then go to apps, then all I have to do is highlight an app and it says move or uninstall and I can go to my sdcard or to my D external hard drive to move my apps. I use the sdcard external drive for the game
apps because it runs smoothly for me. I don't know why you would have to move it unless there was some kind of problem where you would have to reinstall the app which I have had to do just a few times. I don't know if this will help anyone because I don't
know much about PC technology due to the fact I was out of school when the internet was taught. so I am way behind the times and just learning. hope it helps someone. oh I did FORGET 1 MAJOR thing I had to do beforehand and that was in the storage settings
for my PC, SDEXTERNAL, AND D EXTERNAL there was a setting I had to set where I wanted things to be stored. I set documents to the pc and in the sdcard ext. I put my settings for all new apps to go to it and they do. and pictures videos ect. going to my d ext.
I know I made it seem like a longer process but in just 2 steps it was done.

This did not solve the problem.

I can set new apps to be saved to D:,





but the XBox app displays the same behavior. This setting didn't seem to affect it at all.

I've noticed something: If I set the installation drive to D: in my profile/Settings/General, and then I go to a game and click Install...it only shows C:, but when I go back to my profile/Settings/General, it still says D: will be the drive where the app installs games by default.

HOWEVER, if I click Install, and then I click the directory name ("C:\XboxGames"), then I go back to my profile/Settings/General, it now has C: listed as the drive where the app installs games by default.
