When I try to run certain games with my graphics card enabled the game freezes up.

Can't promise anything, but what are you actual PC specs? Also, I take it we're talking about a laptop here? A desktop PC wouldn't have this issue.

Your graphics card is the likely culprit. Games like Final Fantasy can become pretty graphics intensive, and most games prefer having a dedicated graphics card. The Intel Iris Xe is definitely a step up from previous ones offered for regular laptops, though! You should see an improvement on some games, but you're still going to struggle to run others.

I ran a couple of benchmark tests using your specs. It's about equal with the lowest end graphics card that this game needs to run.

Since this isn't a dedicated gaming machine you're likely going to keep seeing graphically intensive games struggle. Make sure you keep your drivers up to date, as well, as those can occasionally patch issues that make it difficult to play certain games.

I have a similar problem, such as the Black Ops freezing after a certain amount of ingame time. Do all your games freeze? Some of my games freeze at startup, and others gave graphical glitches, while others freeze after entering gameplay. Whats really weird
is that FIFA 10 freezes at startup, but FIFA 11 doesn't freeze at all.

I fully stand on your shoes when knowing that you are facing sudden frame drops in the Fortnite game, and I understand your feeling.

May I ask if you only experiencing this problem in Fortnite, and do you have dual graphics cards on your computer？ Enabling the integrated graphics card may reduce the game quality when running the game. You can also try to go lower the game quality and check again if the same problem occurs.

If you have a laptop, you can power it up and play the game again to see if the problem persists.

Welcome to Microsoft community.

If you have the AMD GPU, you can choose a graphics card for individual apps so that games do not open with the slow Intel HD Graphics the next time you open. On Windows 11, you can do this straight from the Settings app.

Press Windows + I on the keyboard to open the Settings app.

With System selected on the left column, select Display on the right.

On the bottom, under Related settings, select Graphics.





You will find a list of all apps that have been configured automatically or by you on this page.

Click on an app and then click on the Options button to choose graphics card for the selected app.

From the pop-up, select your default graphics card preference for the app.





Click Save when done.

If your desired app is not on the list, you can look for them manually. From the drop-down menu, select whether you want to choose a graphics card for Desktop apps or Microsoft store apps, then click Browse.

For desktop apps, you’ll need to find and select the EXE file, probably located somewhere in the Program Files or Program Files(x86) folders within the “C: Drive.”

Then check your game again wether they are using RX580 right now.
