when i hold the pair button and try to connect to my pc the controller turns off?

I'm assuming you are connecting via bluetooth. If so check
here for some troubleshooting advice.

Is it possible that you are not holding down the bind button correctly?

It didnt help much, maybe im looking in the wrong place but the problem is when i hold down the pair button to get it to search for a pc it shuts itself off

You tried all the recommended troubleshooting options.

What you can do next is attempt a reset on the controller while having your computer turned off and having power cicled your console.

First, while having your console turned off, remove it from the power outlet, wait 10-30 seconds, and then connect it again and power it on.

Meanwhile, turn off your computer.

Then, reset the controller again and try to pair it now.

Press and hold the pair button on top of the controller for a few seconds until it vibrates twice.

Then, pair it again.

Turn on your controller by pressing and holding the Xbox button.

Press and release the Pair button on the Xbox.

Within 20 seconds, press and hold the controller’s Pair button a circular button on top of the controller as you hold it in your hands) until the controller's Xbox button flashes a few times.

That means it's searching for a console.

The Xbox button stays lit once it's connected.
