I apologize for the inconvenienced this has caused you. I will do my best to help you.

Please disable background recording because it may be enabled by default, which captures gameplay whenever you're playing. To do this, open Settings in Windows (press Windows + I). Go to Gaming > Captures.

Under Background Recording, toggle Record what happened to Off.

Also ensure Capture audio when recording a game is disabled, if you don’t need it.

And then turn off game bar shortcuts by going to Settings > Gaming > Xbox Game Bar. Toggle Open Xbox Game Bar using this button on a controller to Off.

Scroll down to Shortcuts and review/remove any key combinations that might accidentally start recording.

Next is to use NVIDIA GeForce Experience Settings. Since you're using an NVIDIA GPU, check if ShadowPlay/Instant Replay might be recording gameplay instead:

Open NVIDIA GeForce Experience. Click Settings > General.

Disable In-Game Overlay entirely, or specifically turn off Instant Replay in the overlay settings.

Then rest after changes. Kindly play a game to confirm that auto-recording no longer happens.

If the issue persist after performing the troubleshooting steps, it could be caused by third-party software. Check for any other apps such as Discord that might be capturing gameplay and disable their recording features.

I can open gamebar and record but i cant join a persons game when invited my gamebar freezes when i click join game or accept

go to settings, gaming and set a keyboard shortcut to start and stop recording, then while in game fullscreen use the key combo to start and stop recording.

i have alt + z for start and stop.

some games are not compatible with gamebar overlay so the solution is how i stated above.

Hello this did not fix my issue. Gamebar will work sometimes for example it will record my screen when I am in an internet browser. But it will not record my CAD program (2020 design). Is there a reason it would not record a program like that? TIA

I am sorry Gamebar is not working as you expected and hoped. I assume that of course you have

1. Right-click the Start button.
   
2. Click Settings.
3. Click Gaming.
4. Click Game bar.
5. Click the switch below Record gameclips. Screenshots, and broadcast using Game bar so that it turns On

But just wanted to make sure. Ahh, the pleasures of upgrading. I believe you have come across a fix to make the Gamebar recording application "work as designed".

I see that recent updates to Gamebar have included fixes to close the loopholes. Of course, these are issues with copyright, privacy rights and technical infringement.
