When does the xbox one x get the avatar editor update?

If you haven't downloaded via the insider hub app, you won't miraculously get it.

It is only in the insider program at the moment, you will need to have a look within the insider hub and check your console is enrolled within the preview program and you have download the new avatar app from the store

 

OK that would make sense, but the One S isn't on the Insider program and hasn't got the insider app installed.

 

I Know that's why i'm confused as to why the One S got an update that put it in as that console doesn't have the insider app installed, it just said "time to update" when it was turned on

 

I'll have a look later, I downloaded the insider app last night, but didn't activate anything in the hub as the avatar editor wasn't among the items there, so haven't commited to any previews of anything.

 

My son showed it me on the One S this afternoon, it looks really good, definitely better than the originals, if you can play games to earn items like you did on the 360 it would be almost perfect.

 

If you have the app on the X open it up, go to settings and manage devices and double check. If there are two xbox listed, then the S and X are enrolled. You may need to double check the console serial numbers to verify which is which.

Uninstalling the app from an Xbox doesn't remove it, you have to go into the settings>manage devices, select the Xbox to remove and proceed

 

ok, just had a look as you said, there are no xbox's listed.

 

Have you put the app on the S to see if that is enrolled. If none are showing on your profile on the X, means you aren't in the Insider Preview and you will not get any insider updates. Are you 100% sure that avatar beta is installed on the S? My gamerpic

100% it has a picture of a white silhouetted character that looks slightly more female than the one on the original avatar app and it has a white diagonal line that says beta in one corner, it started up after yesterdays update, my youngest son was on
it today showing me the different animations like the football, basketball, hover board and unicorn, each one also has a colour dial he used to change the footballs colour, though there definitely has never been an insider hub app installed on it.

 

As I said put the app on the S to see if it is enrolled. Sounds like your son maybe enrolled if he has been showing you the app. You have to join the avatar beta via the insider hub app. It does not come with an OS update. Someone in your household hold
has become an Insider and downloaded the avatar beta app.

As this feature seems to have rolled out on the S, its a safe bet that it is nearly here for the X. I would say manually check for system updates at this point in time

You have to be in the insider preview to download the avatar beta app. It works on the original Xbox One, the Xbox One S and Xbox One X. It is not rolled out by console model but by which Insider Preview ring you are in. It has now been rolled out to all
rings.

Insider Preview has Alpha Skip Ahead, Alpha, Beta, Delta and Omega rings. Alpha Skip Ahead and Alpha are invite only from the development team. You can use any Xbox One family of console in any of the rings.

 

Maybe is because the console you have is on the insider program and the one x is not...I am insider and I do have the avatar editor on my xbox one x.

 

Yeah I did it earlier, I chose Omega then rebooted the console, when it came on it was updating, I have it now, I think my eldest son must have put it on the One S at some point then deleted the app, I'm thinking the 2nd update the One S got today might
be for Dolby Vision so should get that tomorrow.
