When does a sale end?

It's usually based on and including the day you're currently on. But following Major Nelson's posts will also give you a good indication.

2 days left including the day of in my experience because on the last day it shows hours.

To answer your question, if it says 2 days left, that means there is
more than 48 hours left, but less than 72 hours. Once there is
less than 48 hours left, it will change to
1 day left. Further, once there is
less than 24 hours left it will change to 23 hours left, then
22 hours left and so on. This will continue to decrease by the hour until time runs out.

For me, I've always try to go by the saying, "the time to buy something is when you see it."

that is a good phrase, if you can afford it, do not put yourself in financial strains. Although, if you have the ability to do so, and have a form of reimbursement in route, then I'd say it's safe to proceed with the purchase at this time. You mentioned
the fact you had a PlayStation card, perhaps you could trade it for Microsoft card and then you can enjoy the sale at the Microsoft store.
