    When do you plan on releasing the GameOS engine?


    Hello.

    When does Microsoft intend to release the GameOS Engine and or MechWarrior 4 Source code to the public? I'm an active modder in the MechWarrior 4 Community (Specifically MechWarrior 4 Mercenaries) and i was wondering when Microsoft planned on making the source code for the game engine, as well as the source code for the game itself, publicly available. the game was released well over 20 years ago, it be really nice to have to code available so we can fix all the bugs and little oddities we find through modding and general gameplay.

    With best regards, somebody who has OCD and needs to fix stuff.

    well, seeing's as Xbox had two exclusive titles with the engine, it should be somewhere (again, 20 odd years ago is a long time) within their records.

    no one here has any kind of inside information, we find out at the same time you do, I wouldn't expect anyone to release their source code ever to the public that isn't id software and their games exclusively.

    Maybe it won't be shown at all! That sounds ridiculous but if you listen carefully to their response, "we are not going to announce it; we are not going to announce when we are going to announce it; we are not going to announce plans for the announcement,
    and we are not going to announce announcements for plans to announce the announcement". This, pertaining to the release date, shows that Rockstar will release the game when it's ready and will not release a release date, an announcement for the release nor
    plans on when they will announce the release date.
