When do I get my points?

Preorders do no count towards VIP. There were no offers to receive credits just for preordering that game. It would have counted as a punch towards the games on demand punchcard running at that time and you would have needed 2 other eligible purchases to
complete that offer and receive credits.

As Smwutches says, pre-orders are not eligible for MyVIP, as stated in our FAQ:

What content on the Xbox Store is eligible for MyVIP?

Normally, most purchases for Xbox 360 and Xbox One from the Xbox Store qualify, including full Games on Demand titles (excluding game pre-orders), arcade games, indie games, game add-ons, game Season Passes, movies, TV shows, TV seasons, themes and avatar
items. In-game consumables, Xbox Live Gold memberships, Groove Music Passes, Microsoft Movies & TV Season Passes, and the purchase or redemption of Microsoft Points or Xbox Gift Cards, still do not qualify.

I am going to assume that you're asking about the points from the 'Summer of Arcade' promotion. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Here is the fine print:

*Purchase any 3 Summer of Arcade games: Tony Hawks’ Pro Skater HD, Deadlight, Wreckateer, Hybrid, and Dust: An Elysian Tale before August 21, 2012, 11:59pm EST, and recieve 400 promotional Microsoft Points! Limit one

What specific points are you talking about?

Are you talking about the reward program? If yes then did you reach more then 100 MS points?

Also this is the appropriate forum to post questions about reward points. On that forum the xbox live reward squad can further assist you. I suggest posting this info if you decide to make a thread there.
