What to do when the failsafe "Authenticator APP" is the cause of the problem

Hello Everyone,

for some weeks now, i have a serious problem that's driving me crazy, in short :

i always used the Authenticator App for sign in and everything, once Microsoft added the Ai chat, i downloaded the Bing app and signed in using the Auth App.

Now it begins, next thing i know, my account disappeared from the Auth app, i tried signin in naturally, the password that the app generated ( i do it every 70 days) The auth app didn't save it. and as u know it's a Generated Strong password.

i tried to reset my password, but because i trusted the Auth app and added it as a 2 Step Verification, i now can't even do that.

i still have my phone number that i used on the account, so even if i enter the sms code that is sent, i still need to enter the Auth app code, But how can i do that if my account isn't logged in on my Auth app ...

thankfully, i'm still logged in on the following: My Xbox one S, the Outlook app on my phone (still receive e-mails), edge app on phone, Bing app on phone.

the 70 day mark is nearning, when it comes, everything will be logged off.

i can't afford to loose this account, as i've been using it for more than 10 years and spent a ton of money on Xbox.

I understand. I am afraid that we can only do so much about it because of the two-step verification on your account. It's an extra layer of security on your account and only the owner has the ability to get access to it. Even a Microsoft Support won't be able to bypass it.

yes, there is, but it asks me for a 25-character code, and sadly i don't have that either

Sorry to hear about what happened. Let's see what we can do about that here.

Have you tried to login your main account to https://account.microsoft.com website? After entering the SMS code for password reset and asked for authentication code from the app, isn't there an option to choose "I don't have any of these"?

After a long time discovering, I am glad to say that the problem was solved. It caused by a app - Microsoft Authenticator. When I uninstalled it, I can login to my account in Xbox app and Minecraft. Anyway, thank you for your support.

One of two things could be causing this.

Like the others have said it could be the password but what they have not said is that for the 360s including the emulators on the Ones the password box is limited to 16 characters so if your password is longer than 16 characters it will see it as a wrong
password when trying to sign in.

The second thing like the others have said is 2 factor authentication the 360s including the emulators do not play well with 2 factor authentication. You would either need to turn this off or use the app password.
