What should I do if my friend did something to get me banned. Like say something offensive...

If they said something on their account, you wouldn't get in trouble for that. If they were using your account, then you can still get a suspension. It's also why you should never let anyone else use your account.

What?!....playing the game... did I really get banned for playing a game, or adding friends?

AS I have posted time and time and time again, if someone says something offensive to you, DO NOT RESPOND TO THEM!!!

Simply be an adult about it, go to their profile and report them and then block them. If you do this, you will not get banned, instead the other person will.

However I get the feeling that someone said something offensive to you, so you said something offensive back and though "That told them, I'm the man!!" and what happened the other person reported you and you got banned.

Grow up, be an adult and stop complaining for being reported.

Thank you microsoft for permanently banning my account for no apparent reason (gave no details, and instantly denied my appeal) causing me to lose all my games and purchases simply because somebody was gamesharing with a friend. I’m very disappointed because i’ve lost all my games, purchases, and progress.

Gamesharing with friends is actually a bannable offense so if thats what you were doing than that is actually something against the rules and something they do ban for.

Nonono, you misunderstood what Im trying to point out. its how I get banned for saying something slightly offensive, while someone can call me a radical or homophobic slur and get away scott free
