Correct. The event names and even the names of the ribbon you get does not matter. It is done on a numbered event system. The only thing that matters is the number of the event. Event #1 of the first cycle is the same ribbon as event #36 of the second
cycle and so on. So if you played the second event of the first cycle, you will not get credit for the 37th event that happened earlier this current cycle.

i just played one versus match and my achievement popped.

i have none of the dlc so the events don`t show up.

That's not how the event system in Gears 3 works. Last year's "Thanksgibbing" event ribbon counted for this year's "Wingman 2x XP" that happened back in July. Please read my first post (third one down) and my last post on this thread:

I explain how the event ribbon system works. Simply put, Epic only coded 35 event ribbons. They are supposed to cycle through them about one ribbon/event per week. After the 35th week, they cycle through again. You can only earn each of the 35 event
ribbons ONCE. So if you have event ribbon #6 from last year, you cannot get event ribbon #40 from this year if you play the event because it counts as the same ribbon. Unfortunately, there is no way to tell which ribbons you have and which ones you do not,
so therefore, you must keep playing an online versus match at least once per week to see if you have the event ribbon or not.

The current event (Boooooom Snipes) is a repeat of the "Can You Dig it" event that happened last February, so if you played Gears 3 online between February 24th - 27th, then you already have that event ribbon and have to wait for an event that you did not
play last cycle.

Recently, Epic decided to grant everyone 29 "War Supporter" ribbons automatically. This means that you still have to find and play that one event that you have not yet gotten credit for. I know this is a bit confusing, but just read my posts in the other
threads and it will help clear up a few things. I hope this helps you out.
