What is wrong with these controllers?

We left for church this morning and arrived home to find that all 3 of our Xbox controllers refuse to turn on. They come on and blink twice as normal, but immediately upon the end of the second blink, when the little light goes a little bit dimmer, they shut off. The controllers are split between two Xboxes, and all 3 going out at the same time seems unlikely to be a hardware issue. I tries going into the settings to review the accessories using my Windows 10 laptop as a controller, and found nothing. I power cycled the machine, and it did not fix it. I found that if I held the power button and hit the pairing button at the same time the controller would enter pairing mode, but upon trying to pair it with the machine the controller would not pair. I have replaced the batteries in the controller, cleaned the contact points, but nothing seems to work. One controller is paired to an Xbox 1S and two are paired to a first Gen Xbox 1 in a different room.

My Halo 3: ODST special edition controller does this too, I find if I plug in a wired headset a few times and jiggle it around it usually fixes it.

Hey Yuyuyuy,

Thanks for coming back. I still believe this issue to be coming from your controller. Especially since it is affecting your keyboard when it is turned on.

If all troubleshooting on the link I provided above has been done then you may need to think about a replacement.

It says that my controller is up to date, but as for using another controller, I haven't tried that yet, I will add the results here when I get the chance. Thank you!

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. by any chance have you been able to test a different controller to see if the issue persists?

Aside from that, I recommend Updating your controller.

Double-tap the Xbox button to open the guide, then select
System > Settings > Kinect & devices >
Devices & accessories. Choose the “…” and check the Firmware version. If it says there’s no update available, your controller is current. If it says “Update,” follow the steps.
