What is the reason for charging xbox live for xbox360?

Hi there,

Live has been a paid service since it came out in 2002. When the 360 came out, users could use the subscription for both Original games and Xbox 360 games.

The same is still true today. The subscription works for all of Live - 360 and Xbox Ones.

With a number of 360 games being backward compatible, it doesn't matter which console the game is played on, it's still online multiplayer which is a paid service.

If you have feedback/suggestions it's best to post on http://feedback.xbox.com/ so the right people will see it that can do something about it.

hm, what about the people who bought items and games from xbox live? If microsoft won't support live on xbox360 ,at least, that would be totally unfair

The reason is because Microsoft is trying to get the PC gamers out there to use Xbox Live on PC, if Microsoft charged for this service on PC, the PC gamers wouldn't use it, because there are loads of similar services that don't charge.

IF Sony suddenly stopped charging for PSN, then we may so Microsoft stop charging for Xbox Live, but don't count on it.

The only reason that Xbox Live should be free is because Microsoft are alreadt making a ton of cash on the dashboard advertising.



Surely they could use that for the upkeep of Xbox Live rather than charging us.
