what is the proper way to fully shutdown xbox one s

Hi,

I am new to xbox one s, my question is what is proper way to completely power off the xbox one s safely, my scenario is i want to shutdown my console and want to disconnect the power,

while pressing the xbox guide button on controller i can see an option to turn off console but i have realized that it actually doesnt shutoff the unit completely because when i turn back console on it instantly resume the signing in screen, i have seen
another option deep inside the setting and then power and reset, where i can see the option shutdown xbox one s so my question is what is the difference between turn off from controller and shutdown from settings

well since after latest update, its seems that my console is not fully shutdown although i have selected power saving mode, the reason why i am suspecting this is when i power on back my console it instantly resume from singing in screen, previously it
was booting up from green screen.

Hello Ashrafqadir,

Thanks for coming to the forums with your question. There are two ways you can power off the console completely.

Power cycle the console--Hold the power button on the console itself until it shuts off.
menu option turn off console---Hit the guide button on controller, go to far right icon(system), go to bottom to turn off console.
You can also go to power and start up and select energy saving mode this will fully shut down the console every time you turn it off.

If you have the console set for instant on mode, turning the console off will put it into standby mode. You would have to turn it completely off by holding the power button down on the console.

If it's not on instant on mode, then turning it off via the controller or settings would turn it completely off.

Is your console set to instant on? I know mine is and is capable of auto-updating which means it'll download & install as they become available but shutting it down provided it's not doing anything shouldn't stop you from disconnecting from the socket
when the console has been powered down.
