What is the Microsoft warranty for the Xbox One Chat Headset?

This is my son's 2nd headset in 3 years and it is now not working. Purchased it a little under a year ago from retail store, along with an extended warranty. They are telling me to contact MS because it is still under warranty for 1 yr - I saw something
on here before in another discussion where the headset that came with the console was only 90 days. Please let me know - hate to spend more $ on another one.

Absolutely confused on Microsoft XBox One Stereo headset warranty ...

I purchased the Microsoft XBox One Stereo headset from a major online retailer in October 2014. The retailer web site clearly states it comes with a one year warranty. The microphone stopped working so I get online with a Microsoft customer agent who
walks me through some troubleshooting steps that did not help. Then I asked to get it repaired or replaced and she indicated it was past the 90 warranty period. I insisted that this was a a headset purchased separately and that it came with a one year
warranty. The Microsoft chat agent would not back down on the 90 day warranty so I got the 1-800 number from her. So I contacted the Microsoft 1-800 and the agent again insisted all accessories had a 90 warranty.

Ok so I assumed I was wrong and contacted the online retailer and explained what happened and they are checking into what the real warranty is.

Then I thought well if all XBox One accessories have a 90 day warranty then let me look at some of the other Microsoft brand accessories like a controller on the retailer's web site and guess what - they show a one year warranty.

So then I thought lets see what the Microsoft Store says - So I called there toll free number and I explained I was interested in this headset - but wanted to know the warranty. The Microsoft agent confirmed one year ..............

Does anyone know what the real warranty is on the Microsoft XBox One Stereo headset and how I get this resolved with Microsoft. I am now going on 3 hours of phone calls, e-mails and now forum posts.

Since your Xbox One is out-of-warranty, your only options are:

• Replace your Xbox One.
• Get it serviced by Microsoft.

The internal hard drive is not meant to be user-replaceable, so the entire console must be replaced. Regardless of warranty status, you can still get it repaired (or replaced) by Microsoft. You can schedule a repair online, or contact Xbox Support (phone/chat)

The warranty for Xbox Accessories is just 90 days. The console has a 1 year warranty.

If you bought an extended warranty, as you stated, then you'd want to contact that warranty provider since they extended warranty would be handled by that company.

Most of the Xbox One controllers will have a 3.5 MM jack for any (CTIA) standard headset (that works for android phones too). You might search only for Xbox One Headset and see what options are available.
