what is the best kinect device for this case?

According to the
instructions for the Kinect adapter, it is supposed to be plugged into the left-most port on the back of the Xbox One S/X. There's no note of what happens if you were to plug it into the other USB ports.

Best case: Kinect is detected, it was just a simple suggestion all along.

Worst case: Nothing happens, and the Kinect sensor won't be detected.

Original Xbox commads still work with Kinect. They have stopped manufacturing them a couple of years ago. Voice commands are moving to other devices and Cortana is still in use on those devices, along with Alexa.

Technology is moving on and whilst kinect opened up so much, it is now time for the next Microsoft revolution and we will have to see what comes with the next gen.

My main concern: the Kinect that I have with my one x will still use voice commands, still be able to interact with games, and I can enjoy all the features that have come with a Kinect.

From what you said, all I have to do is enable the mic for Cortana on the Xbox and it'll still work properly. If that's not the case does that mean I'm losing functionality with the Kinect?

What was silly was the notion that people would accept paying an extra 100 for a device that they either won't use or don't use. Silly is buying into the idea that kinect 2 would be some revolutionary device that changes the gaming industry. Silly is thinking
that developers will continue to build on this gimmick technology.

Edit : the best thing about my post is that there can be no replies about "Well the xbox will never be sold without the kinect, so just deal with it or buy a ps4"

Hopefuly you are right MS will still encourage development for Kinect. But things are different this time around.

.Before MS would want to increase Kinects worth because it was a device sold seprate. But now that it is bubdled with One it's worth to the consumer isn't as important, if you like Kinect or don't it doesn't matter
you have to buy the device. I see less urgency this time around on MS part to increase Kinects worth since they don't have to sell the device.
