What is "Hardcore" mode?

there are a few achievements that require you to play in Hardcore mode but there is no actual mode called "Hardcore" In the difficulty settings. Do they just mean "Hard" difficulty? Maybe Im missing something.

What is YOUR "Hardcore" mode?

I turned down the difficulty as soon as I found out I could. I don't believe it proves anything to make the game 'harder.' It's just a game. In my opinion, it's to be enjoyed, so I wanted to make it easier for me to do things. You can do what you want, that's
up to you. I don't think I'm failing some kind of test, though.

What is a "hardcore" gamer?

Hard Core xyz.... a person who spends 20% or more of their free time on their hobby. So about 14 hours a week right now for gaming for me.

when you make the character there'll be a option to press <y> button to make it a hard core carecter it will tell you that when you die you die and accept then you can fin making your new character

That is exactly what me and my crew did bowski. We played Hardcore mode as well. While we were very good, we were slightly disappointed that Hardcore mode didn't have as many modes as core mode. Granted, some modes wouldn't have worked as well on Hardcore
mode... but we would have liked a few more of the game modes. (This was on MW3)

The game mode the OP explained is exactly what hardcore modes are (no mini map, no skull with teammate deaths).
