What happens to digital games once uninstalled using free up space

If the issue is only happening with Fortnite and no other games..

I would try uninstalling / reinstalling the game. (see link below)

You are able to install the games at any time and uninstall them to make space at any time. All licenses are tied to the Microsoft account and can be installed at any time once its owned.

You shouldn't have to uninstall anything each time you want to play a game. Once you install the games you won't need to uninstall them unless you just want to remove the game or you need to free up space. If you're uninstalling them because of space, you
can add an external hard drive for more storage space.

To add to what the others have said what happens is the license to play the games would be taken away. So you would not be able to play them. The thing though is that the games would still be taking up space on your consoles hard drive so you would need
to uninstall the games from your console if you want to free up space.

Another thing to add to what my fellow ambassadors have said already is to keep these in mind

The game pass gives you the license to download, install, and play these games while they are in the vault for the game pass.

Once they are removed from the game pass vault though the only thing it will do is to remove the license from your account unless you have already bought the game digitally.

It will still be taking up space on your hard drive so if you want to free up that space possibly for another game you would need to go in and request the game to be uninstalled from your console.
