What happens to digital dlc after refund?

This is a long complicated story but on the end of it I just want to know one thing; What will happen to the DLC?

I received a duplicate digital copy of a game which came with free dlc. Now if I refund the base game will the dlc still be playable on my system since refunds do not apply to dlc...

How does this work? Seems that people can exploit this a bit (buying a higher copy of a game, refund the base game, keep the dlc and buy the lower priced version)

The dlc that came with this extra copy was free and I'm not interested in any exploits. I'd prefer to gift the extra copy to a friend, but don't want to lose the free dlc.

if the DLC is part of a bundle then the DLC will be removed along with the game when refunded

otherwise i cannot say since i do not know but you might be able to keep them

Thank you for taking the time to post this on the Xbox Forums. We understand that you are currently inquiring about what occurs to DLC after requesting a refund for an item that includes this particular DLC.

How DLC is distributed when you purchase or pre-order a game is completely up to the developers. As per the

Pre-order FAQ, No matter when you’re charged for your pre-order, you’ll still be eligible for any pre-order incentives that may be included with the game.

However developers can choose whether to retract the DLC upon requesting for a refund [which if the DLC is part of a bundle, this is automatic]. Most
developers have decided to adopt this same system, so as to prevent players from doing this, additionally, there has been a system inmplemnted to ban induvudials from continuing to make purhcases as to not encourage players to perform this in the
future

I hope this is was able to clear up any confusion this might have caused.

Thank you, I have a digital copy and I play in a Xbox, and what it happens is that the game does not start, it start happening right after I bought the Shadowkeep DLC, and I think is my digital copy what it's failed, I really hope I can get any help

As I understand it you had problems in the game after what happened? Is it only with this game that this occurs? and you want a refund? The refund is made after an analysis when the order is placed, now if you are suffering threats from this player, I advise
to report and block the profile.
