What happens if I try to gift my friend an item off the store from a Crossplay game?

Quick summary:

My friend and I play Overwatch 2, and I wanted to get him the Battle Pass. Usually, you can't gift virtual currency but you can gift a starter pack that comes with a battle-pass worth of virtual currency. However, my friend only plays on PC, but still has an XBOX account. If I gifted him the pack, would he get it on PC despite not owning the game on XBOX? I was also wondering if this applies to other similar Crossplay items; if I can do "Cross-Play Gifting" if you will.

As you mention you can gift the starter pack because you are gifting it on the Battle net network, which means that you will not have any trouble sending the gift.

Can u tell what game are trying to play with your friends? You have to check if the game actually support the crossplay and which is the correct way to add them.

For example Fortnite can be crossplayed but you have to add your friends from the epic account not directly from the Xbox.

I just solved it, I made the transition from ps to Xbox and in my ps account was selected crossplay off, just switched to crossplay on and restarted the Xbox, still offline but now can play, join and invite my friends. Hope this helps!

Usually a billing address will be the home address of who ever is making the purchase, i have never gifted something before, so not 100% but I assume that your friend is being asked to enter their billing address before they are able to gift the item.

I suggest your friend make a post that clearly states what they are being asked when trying to gift the item
