What happened to the Wireless Display app? (Or "how can I project my Surface Pro screen ...

Last year, there was a lot of publicity around a 'wireless display' app available in the preview program that allowed you to project your laptop display onto the TV via the Xbox one. I can't find any trace of this app in the current xbox store. Does it
still exist or has it been 'disappeared'?

Alternatively, is there another way to project the screen of my Win10 Surface Pro via the Xbox that doesn't require purchasing a separate miracast dongle? I have both the xbox and smartglass apps on my surface and have even added the xbox in the 'devices'
app as a 'play' device but I can't find any option to project my screen to the xbox (I'm familiar with how to do this with a standard miracast dongle but the xbox is not showing up as a wireless display when using the 'project' functionality.)

Hopefully I'm missing something basic - any help gratefully received.

Wireless Display App

Why does the xbox one S NOT support projecting / sharing / casting a desktop display.

I have a surface pro and it worked FINE with my android media box (which i sold when I get the xbox) and with my older smart tv (which i upgraded for a better bigger tv that isn't smart)

Upon research it seems they released an app called "Wireless Display" which worked fine for everyone, but now I cannot find that app anywhere?

And there is no built in feature to turn on / off? Doesn't seem the least bit logical. How can I go about projecting my Surface Pro screen to the TV via the xbox..

 

Second Screen

I love my Xbox One but seriously why can't the Xbox One be added as a second screen through my Surface Pro or any other Windows 8 device via mirracast or some other form of connectivity.

I would love to be able to display any game or app that's on my surface onto my TV screen through my Xbox One.

This should be an added functionality asap.

 

The Wireless Display app is still being tested in the preview program. No word on when it will be released to the public. You need that app in order to project the display to the Xbox through miracast.

 

So it's still in preview after nearly 9 months ? Oh well....

I'm also wondering where this app is. Come on Microsoft! If you want full integration between devices, I think this would be a no brainer app to have.

 

The app was great... its been broken since the last few Xbox updates though... Haven't seen any comments or advice on when the App will be updates to support the latest Xbox updates... Kinda feel like the App has been dropped, which is really disappointing
as it was brilliant & extremely handy for projecting my Laptop to the TV.

 

Yeah, I'm wondering the same thing. Perhaps surprisingly to some, this is the only thing holding me back from purchasing an XBox One.

 

Yea, completely broken for me too, just crashes when I try to launch it. I'm betting it's been abandoned.
