What happened to double XP this weekend as promised on twitter after Tuesday's downtime?

I'm trying to get Early Adopter and lost a whole day after work because of Tuesdays downtime. I saw on twitter that this weekend would be double XP to try to make it up. I also could not get on Xbox Live at all on launch day.

They took the banner down off the Elite site. It said double xp weekend started today until the 23rd, but they must have realized it was a mistake and took it down.

The call of duty twitter says double xp on all platforms this weekend.

Confirmed. This weekend starting today at 10est. they will turn on Double Weapon XP. @Candyslexia posted it on twitter.

I never saw this weekend would be Double XP. Maybe you're confusing this with CoD or the fact that Vince Zampella said there would be in the future?

The next DLC is scheduled for 8/27 (Tuesday). The next Double XP weekend will likely be 8/23 to 8/26 and the next Double Weapon XP weekend will likely be 8/30 to 9/2. This is assuming they keep with their normal schedule.

Yup! From that you should know the deal. DLC3 Tuesday. Next weekend double Weapon XP. Then August sometime DXP for the PS3 DLC launch and then DWXP after.
