Hope this helps Couch refers to playing games together in the same room on the same console and Coop is short for Co-operative i.e co-operatively playing a game together. As previous posters have stated it all depends on the game you select

- Co-op or VS (versus) games on the same screen (Fifa/Lego games/Mortal Kombat etc)

- Co-op or VS split Screen (think shooters like Borderlands/Offline Call of duty etc)

- Co-op or VS online which is connected via Xbox live and playing on one Xbox against other players from around the world

Couch co op means that they can play together in the same room without the need of a second tv and console, co op can generally mean 2 players but not necessarily that its on the same console it may involve 2 consoles and 2 tvs and they have to be online.

With family and irl friends I love playing nintendo games like smash bros, mario kart, mario party, etc. But online! We play minecraft, overwatch, destiny 2, Dead by Daylight, fortnite, and we always talk in a party no matter what game we are playing.
I really want to get stardew valley again so we can all run a co-op farm together!!

Well, what do you guys consider Co-op matchmaking? Because yes, the Campaign is Co-op, as me and my friends did it on Legendary on the night of the release, and we go into matchmaking in parties all the time to play on Slayer and Big Team together on the
same teams.

Sorry to hear that your country does not support Xbox live, we would definitely love to have you out in the community! Sadly though, Xbox live is required to play many online multiplayer modes. Although, not all is Lost, might I suggest playing locally with
multiplayer. That is to say some games still support split screen gaming for what we call couch co-op. Couch co-op is when you and a few of your friends are simply sitting in the same room playing the same game on a split screen mode. To do this, Xbox live
is not required. I hope this helps.
