What do I need to achieve 4k Resolution @ 120Hz

Hello Lane, thanks for getting in touch, I'm ready to help with any questions or concerns you have.

To achieve 4K resolution at 120Hz on your TV setup, you'll need to ensure that several components and settings are properly configured:

1.First and foremost, ensure that your TV model supports 4K resolution at 120Hz. Not all TVs are capable of this level of performance, so consult your TV's specifications or user manual to confirm its capabilities.

    2. Use a high-speed HDMI cable that supports HDMI 2.1 or later standards. Older HDMI cables may not have the bandwidth required to transmit 4K resolution at 120Hz.
Look for cables labeled as "Ultra High Speed" or "HDMI 2.1" to ensure compatibility.

3.make sure that the device itself supports outputting 4K resolution at 120Hz. This typically requires a relatively recent gaming console or a high-end graphics card for PC gaming.

4.Access your TV's settings menu and navigate to the display or picture settings. Look for options related to resolution and refresh rate. Ensure that the resolution is set to 4K and the refresh rate is set to 120Hz.
Depending on your TV model, these settings may be found under different menus or submenus, so consult your TV's user manual for guidance.

5.Connect your gaming console or PC to the TV using one of the HDMI ports that support HDMI 2.1 or later standards. Some TVs have specific HDMI ports labeled as "HDMI 2.1" or "120Hz," so be sure to use one of these ports for optimal performance.

6.Ensure that your TV's firmware is up to date. Manufacturers sometimes release firmware updates that improve compatibility and performance, so check for updates through your TV's settings menu or the manufacturer's website.

7.In addition to adjusting the settings on your TV and gaming console or PC, some games and content may have their own display settings that need to be configured for 4K resolution at 120Hz.
Check the settings within the specific game or content you're using to ensure that it's set to output at the desired resolution and refresh rate.

By ensuring that all of these components and settings are properly configured, you should be able to achieve 4K resolution at 120Hz on your TV setup.

    I hope this helps!
if you have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask.

    Have a nice day,
    Adam.

    Xbox series x

It depends on what resolution your going to play at and the resolution of the tv,

if 4K, you need HDMI 2.1 to get 4K at 120hz refresh rate,

HDMI 2.0 will only allow 4K at 60hz.

if your at 1080p/1440p, HDMI 2.0 will be ok for 120hz refresh rate, however if it is 1080p/1440p i would recommend getting the Xbox Series S as that is aimed at 1080p/1440p.

Why is HDR washed out only in 4K, 120hz & HDR [Series X]

It's capped at 120hz over HDMI anyway so it shouldn't be an issue. Unless I go via DP then I could access 144hz so that's irrelevant. I really don't understand what your response is about and the firmware is up to date.

I can do 4K/120hz without HDR fine, I can do 4K/60hz with HDR fine but it seemingly doesn't work doing 4K/120hz/HDR which points to it being an Xbox issue.

I can do 4K/120hz/HDR on my PS5. The PS5 supports standard VESA resolutions and refresh rates over HDMI so I feel the blame is being shifted here.

Why has my series X reset itself

Please share the exact model, it needs to look like this "LG 27GL850 27'' "LG 27GL850 27"

In the meantime, are you tried to use 4K + 120Hz?
If you try lowering the resolution the 120Hz option appears?
