What do I do with my old account?

Just a heads-up, though, as frustrating as it might sound, support teams can’t reset passwords or update security info for you. So, reaching out to Microsoft support for password help won’t get you anywhere.

I'm sorry you're having this issue, as I understand your concerns about the privacy of your account and how annoying not being able to access it can be. Situations in which our e-mail account with personal information, contacts, messages and even our documents are actually a little more delicate.

Sad to say, when the hacker manages to change the account's security information, the account is hardly recoverable. That's why it's very important to keep your security information up to date and use different passwords on all platforms.

I'm a user just like you, and there's not much to do, I believe you'll have to contact account support and see if there's any alternative with Microsoft's information security team.

Really? Its been 6 weeks for me and counting. Seems a problem is brewing.

You can contact support and make an unauthorized access claim on your account. However, even though you now have access to this account, support will lock it down for up to 30 business days while it is being investigated. Whether you want to do that would
depend entirely on how much was spent on your card.





You weren't 'hacked' as that isn't possible, there are many ways of losing access to an account via phishing scams, weak passwords, social engineering etc, etc.
